Philip, who qualifies to play for Wales because of his mother, admitted to feeling apprehensive ahead of the tournament. "I am bum-clenchingly nervous,” he said before teeing off. “I prefer to go down the Bubba Watson route and have plenty of noise on the first tee. I hate that moment when it all goes silent, it’s terrifying.”
Despite his apparent nerves, Phil put in great performances to win his first two matches on Saturday, firstly paired with Andrew Howard against Ireland's Ronnie Whelan and Brian Ormond, and then alongside Gareth Bale to beat Scotland's Alan Hansen and Kenny Dalglish, with Phil netting a hole in one on the fourth.
With Wales holding a narrow lead, Phil teamed up with team captain Rob Brydon for the third and final match on Sunday against England's Zoe Hardman and Matt Banahan. They won by two holes to set up a final against Scotland.
For the final, Philip was playing alongside Andrew Howard once more and faced Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen. Wales won all three of the matches in the final, Philip and Andrew winning by two holes.
Thanks to fans that were there on the day, we have a good number of photographs from the event which can be found in our dedicated 2015 Celebrity Cup gallery. We also have two videos courtesy of Celtic Manor Resort; the first is of Philip teeing off in Saturday's match against Scotland, and the second is of the Welsh celebration, where Philip has a little bit of an issue getting the cork out of his champagne bottle!
