#FromTheretoHere to be accompanied by documentary.

23/2/2014

Over the last week, filming has been taking place for a documentary to accompany the broadcast of Philip's upcoming BBC drama, From There to Here. The documentary will be broadcast on BBC Four, while the drama itself is lined up for BBC One.

It is not yet clear whether the focus of the documentary will be the bombing of Manchester City Centre (the subject of the drama), the making of the film or a mixture of both. But from the two pictures below, we do know that Philip and co-star Daniel Rigby will be appearing in the documentary.
A number of tweets have also accompanied these pictures with one suggesting that 'From There to Here' will air around Easter time. Nothing is official yet, but we will keep you informed.

New title for #FromTheretoHere'?

11/2/2014

Picture
The BBC drama about the 1996 IRA bombing of Manchester city centre may have had a title change. The series was announced in 2013 with the title, 'From There to Here' but we have received information today that it is now to be called 'Louder than Bombs'

A tweet from Morven Christie who will star alongside Philip in the series, announced the title change and also seems to confirm the rumours we'd been hearing of a spring airdate. (You can view a screenshot of the tweet below.)

We will wait to hear officially from the BBC though before changing anything on the site.

The drama will tell the story of Daniel Cotton (played by Philip) whose life is rocked to the core when an IRA bomb rips through the city of Manchester. It is a family saga, spanning four years, from that fateful day and 'Football's Coming Home' in 1996 to New Labour sweeping to power in 1997, and finally to the hangover after the Millennium celebrations of 2000. Against the feel-good backdrop of Euro 96, it maps the emotional shockwaves generated by that bomb in the lives of two parallel families from different sides of the tracks. Also stars Liz White, Stephen Mackintosh and Bernard Hill.

Philip Glenister confirmed for Big School Series 2

10/2/2014

A tweet from comedian David Walliams confirms that Philip will be rejoining the cast for a second series of BBC comedy, 'Big School'. David, who writes the show, tweeted earlier today; "Today we are reading through 'Big School' series 2 scripts with the cast for the first time. Great to see Catherine, Phil and Steve again."

You can see a screenshot of the tweet below.

We here at Philip Glenister Fans can't wait to see what's in store for Philip#s character, Mr Gunn in the next series. Will he ever get Miss Postern to take him seriously, or will he lose out to Mr Church?

Big School series 2 is predicted to air in August/September 2014

Philip attends 2014 BBC Audio Drama Awards

7/2/2014

On the 26th January, Philip attended an award ceremony at Broadcasting House, celebrating the best in BBC Audio Drama. These awards were established in 2012 to pay tribute to the cultural importance of audio drama, on air and online, and are intended to give recognition to the actors, writers, producers, sound designers and others who work in the genre.

This year the awards were hosted by
the BBC Director General Tony Hall and writer and performer Lenny Henry. Philip was there to present the award for Best Series or Serial. The winner was An Angel at My Table and was collected by actress, Lorraine Ashbourne; adapter, Anita Sullivan and producer Karen Rose.

Looking great in a grey suit and open-necked blue shirt, Philip took on a presenting role alongside fellow actors and actresses including, Alison Steadman, Stephen Tompkinson, Jessica Raine, Mark Ravenhill, Meera Syal and Fiona Shaw.
Picture
He was also there to honour long serving Archer's actress June Spencer (who plays Peggy Wolley in the drama) as she recieved a Lifetime Achievement Award. We're sure June , who has previously stated that Philip is her favourite actor, was thrilled with the flowers he presented her. We certainly would be!

Philip Glenister to host Momentum 10th Anniversary fundraiser

6/2/2014

Momentum is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and the fundraising highlight of their year will be a black-tie event on Sunday 4th May at The Brewery in EC1 (a fabulous venue which has previously hosted events such as the BAFTAs), hosted by patron, Philip Glenister.

The evening will include a champagne reception and three-course dinner, followed by a spectacular Las Vegas themed show featuring West End stars such as Kim Ismay (currently Tanya in MAMMA MIA!), Kieran Jae (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Jersey Boys, Billy Elliot), Amy Hill (The Cabaret Company) with a special guest appearance from former Olympic skater Robin Cousins (he also sings and dances!) Show dancers will be from the famous Urdang Academy.

An auction is always central to the fundraising aspect of Momentum events and they will have some very special Lots on offer for their 10th anniversary.  The Live From Las Vegas auction will be compered by Christopher Biggins, pantomime dame extraordinaire and former winner of I’m A Celebrity Get me Out of Here!

Tickets are £135 per person and include champagne on arrival, a one-off spectacular show and a three course meal, coffee and half a bottle of wine. They are available by calling 020 89745931 or emailing [email protected]. A copy of the event flyer is viewable below. T

Philip has long been a supported of Momentum, a charity which offers help and support to children, and families of children, undergoing treatment for cancer in Surrey and South West London and we have previously made a donation to the charity thanks to the fundraising through our shop. Do support this extra special event wherever possible; it promises to be a great night.
