Prey’s second series, which is not a direct sequel to series one, will tell the story of Prison Officer David Murdoch, whose life becomes complicated when events spiral out of control on a routine visit to a Manchester hospital with a female prisoner. David takes a phone call, which will change his life forever and suddenly sees him on the wrong side of the law. With the life of his heavily pregnant daughter, Emma, threatened, David has no alternative but to go ‘on the run’ and inadvertently becomes ‘the prey.’ To co-incide with the confirmation of the air date, ITV also released this new promotional photo: Philip's new ITV Drama, Prey is due to air this autumn and on Monday, the channel released a first look preview. Philip was filming in Blackpool this week and local photographer Darren Lewis was on site to get some shots which he has very kindly agreed to let us feature here. In the scene, a very brave Philip is filmed being knocked over by an approaching car. The second series of hit ITV drama 'Prey' began filming this week in Manchester and yesterday Philip was on set in Eccles, first at the Old Bull's Head pub and then in the local shopping precinct.
Thanks to Anthony Mills (@ecclesman) we can bring you some great behind the scenes shots of Philip. BAFTA nominated drama Prey will return for a second series and a completely new story, starring Philip Glenister.
Rosie Cavaliero will reprise her role as DS Susan Reinhardt following the ratings success and critical acclaim of the high-octane format. Produced by Red Production Company, the second series will once again be written by Prey creator Chris Lunt. Philip Glenister takes on the role of Prison Officer David Murdoch whose life becomes complicated when on a routine visit to a Manchester hospital with female prisoner Jules Hope events spiral out of control. David takes a phone call, which will change his life forever and suddenly sees him on the wrong side of the law. With the life of his heavily pregnant daughter, Emma, threatened, David has no alternative but to go ‘on the run’ and inadvertently becomes ‘the prey.’ Unaware of the danger to Emma, DS Susan Reinhardt the no-nonsense, hard-working cop whose personal happiness seems forever blighted tries to unravel why David is suddenly behaving totally out of character. With his reputation as a prison officer intact, Reinhardt attempts to unravel why he makes every effort to strenuously dodge the Police. In some amazing chase sequences, Reinhardt and her police colleagues go in pursuit as in desperation David handcuffs himself to Jules. She is his only bargaining tool as he sets out to move ‘heaven and earth’ to find his beloved daughter. The three part series will be executive produced by Red founder Nicola Shindler (Banana, Cucumber, Ordinary Lies, Happy Valley) and produced by Tom Sherry (Prey, Scott & Bailey, Ordinary Lies). Prey will be filmed in Manchester, Salford and Blackpool from the beginning of May and will be directed by Lewis Arnold (Banana, Misfits, Humans). The drama has been commissioned for ITV by Director of Drama Steve November and Controller of Drama Victoria Fea. “Prey keeps you guessing every step of the way and I admire that about Chris Lunt’s scripts,” said Steve. “They are beautifully written, unpredictable and with real pace. Prey is a refreshing twist on the crime genre,” added Steve. “The Prey format has proved hugely successful and we’re delighted Philip Glenister has agreed to feature with Rosie Cavaliero this series,” said Nicola Shindler. “We’re grateful to Chris Lunt for writing and devising another compelling story,” she added. |
