@BBCOne North West to air a behind the scenes look at #FromTheretoHere

30/5/2014

Picture
BBC viewers in the North West are to get a special treat this Sunday with a look behind the scenes of Philip's latest drama 'From There to Here'.

In Love Letter to Manchester, the BBC go behind the scenes with the creator, Peter Bowker. The writer reveals how the North West inspires him and actors including Philip Glenister, Chris Eccleston and Sarah Parish explain why he's now in such demand.

We first heard about this documentary back in Fabruary when camera-man, Paul Walker, tweeted photos of him interviewing Philip and his From There to Here and Big School co-star, Daniel Rigby.

The BBC have also released the following clip from the programme, which contains a small contribution from Philip at the end.
Love Letter to Manchester will air on Sunday 1st June at 22.55 on BBC One North West (and then to all regions via iPlayer shortly after broadcast)

#FromTheretoHere takes 47% ratings dip in second week

30/5/2014

Picture
The second episode of Manchester-based drama 'From There to Here' was watched by 2.4 million people, giving the show an 11% audience share. This is a 47% decrease on the previous episode.

The poor performance was most probably down to the all out-scheduling war that ITV seem to have been waging this week, with nightly Britain's Got Talent and Coronation Street.

Obviously we still have to wait for the iPlayer figures, which could bring the secind episode more in-line with the first and, despite the seemingly massive drop in popularity there's still hope the third and final episode of the drama can rebound when ITV's schedule gets back on track.

VOTE NOW! Philip longlisted for 2014 TV Choice Awards

27/5/2014

Picture
Philip has been long-listed for Best Actor in the 2014 TV Choice Awards for his new BBC Drama From There to Here.

The show itself is also up for 'Best New Drama' and Liz White is nominated for 'Best Actress'

You can vote on the TV Choice website. As From There to Here has only just aired and is still being broadcast, there is a chance it will be overshadowed by dramas that have already been concluded so it's really important that as many of Phil's fans vote as possible.

Philip's BBC comedy Big School is also long-listed for Best Comedy and Mad Dogs for Best Drama

Voting on the long-list will remain open until midnight on Friday 20 June and the short-list will appear in TV Choice Magazine on Tuesday 1st July.

Picture
The first episode of new BBC One drama 'From There to Here' had a strong start last night with 4.5m people tuning in to watch. This gave it a 21.8% audience share, winning the 9pm slot.

Press reviews have been generally positive, with the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian thinking very highly of it but the Daily Mail needing a bit more convincing. Twitter comments were mixed, with a lot praising the casting of Philip.

To read press reviews please visit our deidicated 'Articles' page. You can also see screencaps from the episode here.

Philip was promoting the show on several radio stations this week and two of these interviews (BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 5live) can be found in our 'Audio' section.

Phil continues on the promotion trail this week with an appearance on The Paul O'Grady Show on Monday at 5pm, ITV 1.

Rare & Exclusive Video: Philip Glenister on Cbeebies

21/5/2014

You may be aware that back in 2006 when Life on Mars was at it's height of popularity, both Philip Glenister and John Simm read stories on the Cbeebies Bedtime Hour. Now, Philip's videos are notoriously hard to come by (save from 2 small clips on youtube), but we're glad to say that we have been sent one of the five; 'The Golden Acorn' which you can watch below...
In total, Philip read five stories for the BBC Bedtime Hour in February/March 2006. These were:
  • The Night Pirates
  • The Golden Acorn
  • Pumpkin Soup
  • Mrs Clutterbuck and the Scarecrow
  • Badly Drawn Dog

If you happen to have any of the other videos or know where we can get hold of them please do let us know.
