Donations made to Shooting Star Chase and Hospice Aid UK

9/3/2014

The results of our poll are in and as you can see from the image below, the final result was a two way tie. In light of this, we have split amount raised between Shooting Star Chase and Hospice Aid UK, resulting in them both having received a donation of £30. Donations were made this morning (9th March).
Picture
Unfortunately, on this occasion, due to the online systems used for donating, we were unable to relay to the respective charities that the money had come from fans of their patron, Philip Glenister. We will however be tweeting this article to both charities in that hope that they will see it and know how generous Philip's fans have been.

The money we raise comes from commission earned from Amazon whenever someone makes a purchase through the fansite shop. In the grand scheme of things, the commission earned is quite small compared to the total amount spent, so we urge you to shop through us wherever possible. You can buy anything that is sold on Amazon - it doesn't have to be Phil-related. Just use the Amazon search box on the shop page.

One-off donations can also be made through our GoFundMe page.

At the time of writing (9th March) we have raised £17.71  towards our next donation so, with your support it shouldn't be long until we hit the £25 threshold st by Amazon and are able to make another donation.

If you struggle to remember to use our shop, why not add the URL of the page to your favourites or bookmarks and label it as Amazon?

Thanks again for all your support!!

Sony TV to air Ashes to Ashes

6/3/2014

From April Sony Entertainment Television will be broadcasting Ashes To Ashes - the acclaimed follow up to detective drama series Life On Mars, which is currently airing on the channel.

Ashes to Ashes sees Philip reprise his role as DCI Gene Hunt but this time in 1980s London. He's swapped the Cortina for a Audi Quattro and has swapped Sam Tyler for
sexy, intelligent, DI Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes) who has been sent back to 1981 after being shot in 2008.

Watch Sony TV's preview below!
When first broadcast in 2008, Ashes to Ashes attracted an average audience of 6.7 million viewers. The Observer newspaper said: “Every bit as gripping as its predecessor… the new dimensions in this series are fascinating." While The Sun commented: “A television programme to treasure … it’s a relief to report, Philip Glenister is still having the time of his acting life as The Flying Squad’s Fonz."

Ashes to Ashes begins on Wednesday 9th April at 10pm on Sony Entertainment Television.

Philip attends #Audi TT launch event

6/3/2014

Philip continued to embrace his image as a 'petrol head' on Wednesday night by attending the launch of the all-new Audi TT at London's Audi City. Philip was joined at the event by the great and the good of the motor industry and a raft of celebrities including Rory Bremner, Anna Friel, Sheridan Smith and Will Poulter.

Here's a slideshow of images of Phil at the event. We will also be uploading
them into a dedicated event album in our photos section.
Audi have also uploaded a video of the event to their youtube channel. There are several blink and you'll miss them glimpses of Phil. We especially like the one at 56s of him in the glasses!

Philip Glenister is the new face of uSwitch

6/3/2014

Picture
On Sunday, rumours started to surface about a TV advert for energy comparison service uSwitch, which starred Philiip Glenister.

This sent our admin team into a whirlwind and they worked diligently to find out as much information as possible about this. They discovered that the advert is only airing in the North West for the moment so tasked their members living up there to look out for it.

It took a few days of obsessively watching ITV for them to see it, but see it they did and thanks to Ruth, we can bring you an exclusive look.

We apologise for the quality - it was recorded on her iPad, but nevertheless, we hope you enjoy it.

To compare energy prices in your area, why not visit Phil's USwitch page!

Philip attends book launch poker night

4/3/2014

To celebrate the launch of Paul Mendelson's debut crime thriller 'The First Rule of Survival', a celebratory poker night was held with guests including Philip Glenister, Mark Billingham and Barry Foreshaw.

We are very pleased to say that Paul has given us permission to host some photos of the events on this site. You can see one here and the rest can be found in the event album.
Picture
Philip has also provided a quote for the book jacket and Paul's website which states, that it is "a jaw-droppingly brilliant crime thriller. The characters, the setting, the layer upon layer of mystery are all masterfully realised. Imagine The Killing being moved to Cape Town and the icy Scandinavian landscape transformed into the relentlessly hot and dusty African veld. Just read it."

Book Synopsis
Seven years ago in Cape Town three young white South African schoolboys were abducted in broad daylight on three consecutive days. They were never heard of again.

Now, a new case for the unpredictable Colonel Vaughn de Vries casts a light on the original enquiry; for him, a personal failure which has haunted him for those seven years and has cost him his marriage and peace of mind. A former British government agent, friend to De Vries, provides intelligence on this new case, but is any of it admissible? Struggling in a mire of departmental and racial rivalry, De Vries seeks the whole truth and unravels a complex history of abuse, deception and murder. Challenging friends, colleagues and enemies, De Vries comes to realise he doesn't know who is which.

Set against the background of Cape Town and the endless, rolling South African veld, this chilling thriller reveals layer after layer of abuse - physical, political and psychological.

Where to Buy
First Rule of Survival will be released on the 20th March for Kindle and is available for pre-order through Amazon for £6.23.

A print copy will be released on 17th April and this can also be pre-ordered at a cost of £6.39

Vote for where our fundraising money should go!

3/3/2014

We are delighted to announce that we have raised £60 for charity from our site-shop (in partneship with Amazon.co.uk) and it's now time to decide which charity we should send it to. As you know we like to donate to a charity of which Philip is patron and our last donation of £37 was made in September last year to Momentum.

This time we would like you, Philip's fans, to decide where the money should be sent. There are four charities in contention: Momentum, Shooting Star Chase, Hospice Aid UK and Born Too Soon. (Click on the charities to visit their website and find out more about their work)

Please vote for one option in the poll below. The poll will close on Friday 7th March.
If the winning vote is a split, we will have a second poll where you will be able to select the charities that will receive the money.
