The show starred Philip Glenister and Liz White (both last on screen together in Life On Mars) as characters Daniel and Joanne who meet amid the debris of a pub, close to the bomb site. Peter Bowker, a Stockport lad and creator of the three-part series, had already commissioned a musician to soundtrack it, but wasn't happy with the results.
“Peter is aware of Kloot,” Pete explains, “and it came up that he’d done this love letter to Manchester and wanted it to be a bit warts and all and not the usual synth or strings soundtrack you have on TV shows - and he wanted us to just do something. They gave us Key scenes and I wrote a piece for the romantic scene and Andy wrote for the episode when there's a second bomb and John did the theme tune. They said, 'Yes we'll have you' straight away. Some of the songs we wrote are seven or eight minutes long and it gets a bit blade runner, but you know!" he smiles.
Featuring 19 tracks from the show, the soundtrack is available through our shop (all orders fulfilled by Amazon). The CD is priced at £11.99 and the vinyl at £25.99.
