Philip is to guest star in the second series of Apple TV's sci-fi series 'Foundation'. He will play dictatorial planetary ruler, Commdor Argo. Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, “Foundation” chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilisation amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. It features an ensemble cast led by Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell and Leah Harvey. Not much is known about Phil's character, other than he will engage in a battle of wits with his enemy - another new character Hober Mallow, (played by fellow Brit, Dimitri Leonidas). Foundation season 2 launched worldwide on Apple TV+ on Friday, July 14 2023. Subsequent episodes in the 10-part series will now launch weekly every Friday.
Foundation marks Philip's first role in a show produced by a streaming platform, which may reduce your ability to see his performance. Luckily, however, Apple TV+ offers a 7 day free trial for new subscribers and a three-month trial if you purchase a qualifying Apple device. New Project: Steeltown Murders8/11/2022 The BBC have announced that Philip will be starring in a new drama series 'Steeltown Murders' set to air in 2023. Set in both 1973 and the early 2000s, Steeltown Murders centres on the hunt to catch the killer of three young women in the Port Talbot area and the remarkable story of how - in the first case of its kind - the mystery was solved almost thirty years later using pioneering DNA evidence. Contrasting the policing methods of the 1970s with the forensic breakthroughs of the early Noughties, Steeltown Murders is a portrait of a town dealing with the repercussions of an unsolved case three decades on, and asks if justice can ever truly be found. Philip will play DCI Paul Bethell, the officer in charge of the case. On the role, Philip said: Ed [Talfen, executive producer]'s scripts are a poignant and compelling read, balancing the tragic events alongside the revolutionary advances in DNA profiling which were crucial in this case and many others since. I’m also very happy to be part of a production filmed in south Wales where I have my own family connections.” Filming is currently underway in and around south Wales and northern ENgland, ahead of transmission on BBC One and iPlayer in 2023.
New Project: Carthago23/11/2021 Philip is to star in a new project commissioned by Israel's public broadcasting corporation.
Based on a true story, the action takes place in a British built detention camp (Carthago Camp) that was built in the remotest corner of the African wilderness to imprison the most dangerous terrorists and freedom fighters caught within the boundaries of their crumbling Empire in the 1940s. The series mixes suspense with wit as prisoners repeatedly try to break out of the inescapable hell they have been confined to. The series will also star Irish actor, Shaun Paul McGrath. Filming is currently taking place in Colombia and an air date has yet to be confirmed. Behind the scenes photos below are courtesy of Shaun Paul McGrath Philip is to be a contestant on Richard Osman's House of Games.
House of Games is a British quiz show played on a weekly basis, with four celebrities playing on five consecutive days to win daily prizes and the weekly prize of being crowned as "House of Games" champion. Points are accrued depending on where each celebrity finishes on each day and the points are doubled on Friday's show. Philip's stint on the show runs from Monday 13th to Friday 17th September. Each episode will air at 6pm on BBC Two and episodes will also be available on BBC iPlayer shortly after broadcast. Philip is to star in an upcoming show on Sky History, charting the rise of the Tudor Dynasty. The Royal Bastards: The Rise of The Tudors of The Tudors (working title) is a landmark Sky Original series that tells the incredible true story of one of England’s most powerful women, of whom you may never have heard, Lady Margaret Beaufort. She was half-sister by marriage of King Henry VI, mother of King Henry VII and grandmother of Henry VIII, who defied the greatest dynasties in medieval Britain – the Houses of York and Lancaster – to manoeuvre her son to the throne of England and consign the reign of the Plantagenets to history. Married aged just 12, pregnant at 13, widowed and a fugitive shortly after, her story is truly the real Game of Thrones. Filmed on location in Lithuania and in the UK with three of Britain’s leading actors as our primary storytellers – Sheila Atim for the House of Lancaster (Queen Margaret of Anjou), Philip Glenister for the House of York (Richard of York), and ‘tba’ for Margaret Beaufort – this unique docudrama will tell the story of one of the most turbulent and bloody periods in English history from a unique perspective, through the eyes of its women. Royal Bastards: Rise of The Tudors is directed by Julian Jones and produced by Bernadette Ross, with David Glover as Executive Producer. The Sky Original series is commissioned by Zai Bennett, Sky’s Managing Director of Content, Poppy Dixon, Director of Documentaries and Factual and Daniel Korn, Vice-President of Programming at A+E Networks UK. Transmission expected: 15th November 2021 (3x60min episodes) Philip is to star in the upcoming film, 'Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon' written by his Living the Dream co-star, Rosie Day. Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon began life as a play - a one-girl show, written and starring Rosie and a book of the same name is scheduled to be released in October. Not much else is known about the project so far, other than it will star Philip (as 'Dad'), Rosie (as 'Girl'), Amanda Abbington (as 'Mum') and Isabella Pappas (as 'Ella'). |
