New Radio Project: Teatime (BBC Radio 4)17/2/2020 Philip is to star in a new Radio 4 comedy by Katherine Jakeways. Teatime is about a chaotic but loving family and also stars Samantha Spiro, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Katie Redford and Steven Brandon. Newlyweds Vicky (Edwards) and Rav (Puwanarajah) have just got back from their honeymoon and are looking forward to their first quiet night in as a married couple. But a quiet night in proves impossible when Vicky’s family invite themselves round. Vicky's parents Donna (Spiro) and Joe (Glenister) have separated, but Joe has is keen to rekindle the old spark. Vicky's sister Lisa (Redford) is scandalised by what she thinks she remembers happening at the wedding. And Uncle Bob (Brandon) makes a spirited attempt at breaking the world record for most spoons balanced on the face. 31 spoons to beat. So much for a quiet night in. The series will air weekly at 11;30am beginning on 21st February on BBC Radio 4. You can listen to the broadcast on BBC iPlayer here. Philip is to star in Carnival Films’ Julian Fellowes-penned British period drama Belgravia for ITV and Epix, alongside Tasmein Greig, Harriet Walter and Alice Eves. Belgravia is a tale of secrets and scandals set in 1840s London, when the upper echelons of society began to rub shoulders with the emerging industrial nouveau riche. But the story begins on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, when the Duchess of Richmond throws a party in Brussels for the Duke of Wellington. Among the guests are James and Anne Trenchard, who are living on the profits of newfound trading success. Their young daughter Sophia has caught the eye of Edmund Bellasis, the son and heir of one of the richest and most prominent families in England. Twenty-five years later, when the two families are settled into the newly developed area of Belgravia, the events of the ball, and the secrets, still resonate. Philip will play businessman, James Trenchard Celebrity Cup 2018 Day One30/6/2018 This weekend, Phil is playing in the Celebrity Cup at The Celtic Manor Resort. This event is a two-day charity golf tournament that pits celebrities from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland against one another. Philip plays for Wales, thanks to his mother's Welsh heritage. Philip who only wrapped filming on Living the Dream yesterday flew straight from Spain to the tournament, missing the first day preamble and warm ups. The first fixture of the day was Wales v Scotland. For his match, Philip was paired with Gareth Edwards and they faced Scottish rugby player brothers Max and Thom Evans. It didn't go well. Phil made bogeys on his first three holes, which wasn't helped by a double bogey from Gareth. The final result was a loss for Phil and Gareth and with Wales only winning one of the other two matches they found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard going into lunch. For his second round fixture, Philip was paired up with BBC Rugby commentator Jonathan Davies. They faced an Irish team of actor, James Nesbitt and former Westlife start, Brian McFadden. Philip and Jonathan faired far better in this game (winning 5.5 to 3.5 - as did Wales in general, winning 2 out of the three matches. The end of the day scoreboard looked a lot healthier with Wales in 2nd. Tomorrow sees Team Wales face Team England, with Philip paired up with Scott Quinnell to face dragon Peter Jones and former rugby player Mike Tindall. Tee off will be sometime between 10.00 – 11.00am.
The top two teams on the leaderboard after round three will face each other in the final, with 3rd and 4th teams playing off for the third place spot. Philip is due to play in two charity golf tournaments in the coming weeks. He will once again play for Wales at the Celebrity Cup at Celtic Manor from 29th June to 1st July. He has played in this tournament twice, helping Wales to victory in 2015. Then, on the 20th July he will switch allegiances to England for the Mini Masters at Duke's Meadow, hosted by Dougray Scott Tickets for both of these are available from the events website. Philip to star in Sky Arts 'Urban Myths21/11/2017 It has been announced today that Philip will star in an upcoming episode of Sky Arts' Urban Myths. The show , which began earlier this year, takes a slightly tongue-in-cheek look at some of the entertainment industries most famous urban myths. Philip's episode will be entitled 'Public Enemy (feat. Kev Wells)' and will tell the story of how rap revolutionaries Public Enemy were stranded in Broomhill, North Devon, after their tour bus left without them, and "had to rely on a local bloke and his old Ford Focus to get them to their show on time". Philip plays that 'local bloke', Kev Wells and here is the first glimpse of him in that role. Urban Myths: Public Enemy (feat. Kev Wells) is due to air in 2018
Philip has been cast in a new animated CITV show that is set to air in summer 2019. The comedy-adventure series The Rubbish World of Dave Spud, which is aimed at kids aged six to 11, focuses on the Spud family and their escapades. It is not yet known which character Philip will be giving voice to. Philip is no stranger to audio work, he's narrated several documentary series and played parts in audio books and plays over the years. But this will only be his second foray into children's television. His first was reading several CBeebies Bedtime stories back in 2007 . The Rubbish Life of Dave Spud is being made by London-based The Illuminated Film Company' and will also star Johnny Vegas, Jane Horrocks and Gina Yashere. |
