The House of Doctor Dee (1997)
Dramatisation of the novel by Peter Ackroyd. When Matthew Palmer inherits a creepy old house upon the death of his Father, he begins to investigate the previous owners. He discovers the house used to belong Doctor Dee, a 16th-century alchemist and astrologer John Dee who was reputedly a black magician, he was imprisoned by Queen Mary for allegedly attempting to kill her through sorcery. Also starring Tracey-Ann Oberman and Nigel Anthony.
