Cast announced for second series of Big School on BBC One
Big School, BBC One’s comedy series about a dysfunctional staff room and unrequited love at Greybridge School, will be returning for a new term with a whole host of guest stars joining the returning main cast.
The all-star main cast will once again see David Walliams reprising his role as Mr Church, the 40-something deputy Head of Chemistry who still has his heart and his head set on wooing French teacher Miss Postern played by Catherine Tate. Phillip Glenister returns as lothario gym Teacher Mr Gunn whilst Frances de la Tour is back as plain-speaking Headmistress Ms Baron. Daniel Rigby as Mr Martin, Steve Spiers as Mr Barber and Joanna Scanlan as Mrs Klebb are also all back in the Greybridge staff room.
Joining the main cast are Jimmy Akingbola (Rev, Holby City, The Crouches) who will set pulses racing at Greybridge as sexy new teacher Dr Dalton and Morgana Robinson (House Of Fools, The Morgana Show, Very Important People) will play Fenella Forbes, a best-selling children’s author who arrives to give the pupils some advice on careers day.
No nonsense OFSTED Inspector Mrs Steele will be played by Sylvestra Le Touzel (Mansfield Park, The Iron Lady) whilst comedian Jack Carroll (Britain’s Got Talent 2013 Runner-Up) plays Dean, a new arrival at the school.
Michele Dotrice, (Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, Death In Paradise) will appear as Mr Gunn’s long-suffering mother and Karen Taylor (Touch Me, I’m Karen Taylor, Father Figure) will play Trish, the mother of one of the pupils at the school.
David Walliams says: “I am excited to be welcoming so many talented new faces to the show. And it's great to be working with Jack Carroll, who of course I met on Britain's Got Talent.”
Mark Freeland, Controller, Fiction & Entertainment, says: “BBC One returns to the Big School staff room to find some half eaten biscuits, unmarked homework, the Head of Science asleep in the corner, but also some of the UK's funniest & much loved comedy actors.”
Big School will return to BBC One later in the year.
Big School is a BBC Production in association with King Bert Productions, written by David Walliams and the Dawson Brothers. The series will be produced by Jo Sargent, executive produced by Mark Freeland and directed by Matt Lipsey (Little Britain, Psychoville).
