The Wanted
The lads are back - and in even more trouble than ever
When we last saw the Mad Dogs they were touching down in Morocco, trying to make it home to their families. But their roller-coaster holiday from hell is far from over.
As the thrilling third series begins, Baxter, Rick, Quinn & Woody have been relieved of their shorts, sunnies & 5 million euros, and are being interrogated in a crumbling desert jail. The only other inmate is a feisty ex-soldier (Jaime Winstone), who tells them they are secret prisoners of the British government - and as the show progresses we find out why.
The four pals are accused of funding international terrorism. Plus, their meddling in a drug plot that helped finance the US has landed them at the top of the CIA's 'kill list'. So when the suave spook who runs the prison realises the hapless foursome are actually there for a summer holiday and not working for Al-Qaeda there's only one thing that can save them - new identities and new lives... in South Africa! There's quite a mighty catch though. They can never go home, and never see each other again.
“It takes us on a new adventure,” John Simm tells TV Pick, and as the series progresses all 4 are forging new lives. “Quinn ends up running a dodgy club in Cape Town,” says Philip Glenister. “He's probably the best equipped to start afresh.”
Meanwhile, Rick appears to be having visions of a strange 'Tolkoloshe' creature and turns to drugs. “Rick becomes a cocaine dealer and ends up in rehab,” reveals Marc Warren. “It's not shaping up too well for him, to be honest.”
