This new adaptation of the much loved Robert Louis Stephenson classic takes a fresh and bold approach to create a thrilling, high octant action adventure. The two-part drama follows the story of Jim Hawkins, who is unexpectedly drawn into the world of piracy when he discovers Captain Flint's treasure map. However, Long John Silver will stop at nothing to get hold of the gold himself. As they set sail for Treasure Island, Jim embarks on an adventure that will change his life forever. With Silver preparing to lead a mutiny, who will be the first to find Flint's buried booty? Who will keep control of the ship? And who will leave the island alive?

Captain Smollett
He's the captain of the Hispaniola and he's engaged on sealed orders by Squire Trelawney to sail the ship over to the island. Initially he refuses to sail the ship on the grounds that he doesn't know the purpose of the trip, he doesn't know the crew and it seems like a bit of a dodgy set up, but then he's bribed by Trelawney and he doubles his money. So in some respects he's as bad as the rest of crew at that point, but during the course of the journey he becomes a sort of moral centrepiece of the story.
