Synopsis: Despite eerie visions that suggest a tantalising proximity to his old life, DI Sam Tyler remains very much in the technologically backward, politically incorrect world of Manchester, 1973. When he encounters a nasty villain he put away in 2006, Sam faces every copper's dream; stopping the killer before he kills.

Synopsis: At a loss to discover the culprit in a spate of armed robberies, A-Division escort imprisoned safe-cracker Dickie Fingers back to the station for interview. On the way they are set upon, Fingers is freed and his M.O. is all over another hist in a matter of days. Clearly there's a powerful puppeteer behind the operation.

Synopsis: The IRA look to have brought their bombing campaign to Manchester, and A-Division are on red alert. The warning doesn't fit with Sam's understanding of IRA methods, but when his 2007 know-how fails to prevent a colleague getting injured in a bomb attack, Sam begins to wonder if his memory serves him correctly.

Synopsis: The body of a beautiful young woman is found in wasteland .The victim is a door-to-door beauty saleswoman like Sam's aunt, Heather. The investigation takes the team to suburbia where a local car dealer is throwing private parties, employing the make-up girls to "help out" when the lights go out and the wife swapping begins... Guest starring Eva Pope.

Synopsis: Sam feels strange; stranger than usual. Whilst trying to work out the cause of his vivid imaginings, he's compelled to take command of an urgent investigation when a man tries to hang himself from the ceiling of A-Division. His wife and daughter have been kidnapped and Sam must shake the demons from his head to help the desperate family.

Synopsis: Heroin as hit the streets of Manchester and Gene wants culprits. When they're called to the scene of a crime involving a Ungandan Asian man, Sam has to ensure that the bigoted, knee-jerk reaction of his DCI doesn't condemn the new immigrant community without a fair hearing. His sympathy is further stirred as he is haunted by messages from Maya, his Asian girlfriend in 2006.

Synopsis: Gene wakes Sam in the middle of the night, drunk, and apparently having killed someone. While Sam tries to prove the Guv's innocence, he is monitored by DCI Frank Morgan, from Hyde division. Morgan is so insistent on thoroughness that Sam can't help but admire his methods - whilst also recognising that the evidence is stacking up against Gene.

Synopsis: When CID hears of a dead miner, all roads lead to notorious cop-killer, Leslie John. Gene is determined to beat Morgan to the collar, but the investigation is hurried and unprofessional. A one-to-one meeting between Sam and Morgan turns Sam's world upside down. All Sam has to do, Morgan promises, is one more job and he can 'come home'. Sam's presumptions about his past, future and his very soul unravel in a heart-stopping climax.
