For the Love of Cars filming again.

27/3/2016

It looks like Philip Glenister and Ant Anstead will be returning for more For The Love of Cars.

Ant seemingly confirmed the news on his twitter account this week, posting a photo of himself and Phil, saying:
Here we go again. This fella CRACKS ME UP!
Picture
For the Love of Cars sees Ant and Phil aim to restore old cars to their former glory. Ant does all the grafting whil Phil researches the stories of the cars and the people who are fanatical about them.

The two have already been spotted filming near Welwyn Garden City. They were spied outside the Rose and Crown on Upper Green in the village of Tewin (where Ant has his workshop) on Wednesday afternoon (March 24th).

There is no further information on which cars will feature, but we are still hoping for a Gene Hunt style Audi Quattro!

More details about For the Love of Cars series 2

1/12/2014

More details have been released about the second series of For the Love of Cars.

The new series, which is expected to air in the spring of next year, will be 8 episodes in length, one more than the first series. The cars being restored will be from all over the world and will range from pre-war right up to the 80's and nudging into the 90s.

The series will also feature one of the most ambitious restorations that Ant and his team have even attempted and will also see Phil and Ant spending more time together on screen, which if the last series is anything to go by should make for some fun times!

But the show's creators are still teasing us. They have hinted that here is one more BIG difference, but are keeping that under wraps for the moment.

For the Love of Cars recommissioned for second series!

4/8/2014

Great news! Channel Four have today confirmed that For the Love of Cars has been recommissioned for a second series.

Both Philip and Ant Anstead will be returning for series 2, which will again be six episodes in length. The series will film throughout the remainder of 2014, for broadcast in Spring 2015.

In a statement released by their press office, Channel Four said:

Following it's success, original commission For the Love of Cars, new to 2014, has been re-commissioned for a second series for 2015.

Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes) is set to continue his incredible passion for the great British motor. He’ll be unearthing the stories of a set of new cars that were built in Britain and flew the flag for great British manufacturing across the world.

Under Phil’s guidance, the internationally renowned restorer Ant Anstead will be tasked with the challenging job of rebuilding them and bringing them back to their former glory. While Ant works hard with the spanners breathing life into old bangers Phil will explore the people, passion and social history stories behind each of the marquees, learning what makes each car so unique.
The show's official Twitter account promises that a few things will be different, but a lot will remain the same. They also promise pictures and updates from location filming.

We expect more news in the coming days and will update you as we get it!

#ForTheLoveOfCars Twitter Q&A

1/5/2014

This afternoon, the official twitter account of 'For the Love of Cars' ran a Twitter Q&A with Phil about cars. Here's the questions that were asked and the answers.

Does Phil still love Audis?
A big YES!

Which car does Phil like more the Ford Escort Mexico or the Triumph Stag?
He likes them all but there is a special place in his heart for the Escort.

If Phil could only drive one car for the rest of your life, what would it be? And what colour?
An Aston Martin DB5 or a Ferrari Dino. And they would have to be James Bond silver and Ferrari red.

What car (or cars) does Phil currently drive?
A nice one, none of your business... cheeky! :P But not a classic. Although after this series he is tempted.

What was Phil's first car?
After he passed his test he sort of adopted his mums old Mini Clubman.

Which was the better car to drive, the Audi Quattro or the Ford Cortina?
The Quartro… Completely.

What's Phil's own personal favourite classic car?
Probably the Ferrari Dino. Think Tony Curtis in The Persuaders.

For the final question, the admin of the twitter account asked Phil if he was ever going to go on twitter himself. His reply... 'Am I heck'! Oh well, guess you'll all just have to follow @PhilGFans for all the latest Phil news.

The first episode of For the Love of Cars aired last night on Channel 4 to an audience of 1.4 million, who saw Philip help to restore a Ford Escort Mexico, try his hand at rallying and struggle with navigation.

It also got a great reception in the Twittersphere, with people enjoying the nostalgia and commenting that it was 'a cracking programme' and 'brilliant Sunday night TV'.

It appears to have a few celebrity fans too, including Jamie Oliver who tweeted:

If you missed it, the episode will be available on 4od for the next few days.
