'Clocking Off' Series 1 Episode Guide

Episode 1: The Leaches Story

Synopsis: Thirteen months ago, Stuart Leach (John Simm) set off to take a truckful of the factory's textiles to a distant destination, an no one saw him again... until he walks back into his family home to a shocked and distraught wife and son. He claims he has lost his memory of the last thirteen months, so his brother, Martin (Jason Merrells) helps him to piece together the last year and in doing so reveals answers, jealousies and betrayals that tear the family apart.

Episode 2: Yvonne's Story
Air date: Sunday 30th January 2000
Synopsis: Yvonne (Sarah Lancashire) works on the factory floor. When her estranged ex-boyfriend threatens to throw her and her children out of their house, Yvonne decides to burn the place down. But her plan almost goes horribly wrong when she discovers her children are still inside. Her neighbour, Jim Calvert (Christopher Eccleston) goes in to find them and offers the reunited but homeless family a roof - where a new love story begins. But can Yvonne trust a man again?

Episode 3: KT's Story
Air date: Sunday 6th February 2000
Synopsis: The factory is run by James 'Mack' Mackintosh (Philip Glenister), whose drive and success won him his wife Katherine. But her frustration at his complete control and boredom with domestic life push her into the arms of KT, the youngest and weakest member of Mack's staff. Mack's suspicions about them turn into violence and Trudy (Lesley Sharp), who has been secretly in love with Mack for years, must decide between exposing Katherine or protecting Mack.

Episode 4 : Steve's Story
Air date: Sunday 13th February 2000
Synopsis: Steve Robinson, factory foreman and Mack's right-hand man, is in trouble: his wife knows he has had an affair. Just as they manage to patch up their problems, an armed burglar breaks into their house. The police call round, but they are more interested in the evidence of drug abuse in the house than the break in. So, after discovering he is the victim of an vengeful ex-employee, Steve takes the law into his own hands.

Episode 5: Trudy's story
Air date: Sunday 20th February 2000
Synopsis: Mack's secretary, Trudy, is thrown into an identity crisis after her father dies. Desperate to make changes to her in her life, she books herself into a clinic to have her breasts enlarged. And she tells Mack that his wife has had affairs. Suddenly the stable parts of her life are under great strain. With the truth about Mack's marriage uncovered, everyone is forced to face their feelings. Trudy's for Mack, Mack's for Katherine.

Episode 6: Katherine and Mack's Story
Air date: Sunday 27th February 2000
Synopsis: On the day after their anniversary, following yet another morning of loveless sex, Katherine packs her things into a case and, saying nothing, leaves Mack forever. She asks Mack to buy her half of the factory out. When Mack refuses, she threatens to sell the premises to his competitor. It would put Mack out of business and render unemployed a community who depend on him for their livelihood.
