'Ashes to Ashes' Series 3 Episode Guide
The third and final series of Ashes to Ashes originally aired on BBC One from the 2nd April 2010 to the 21st Mar 2010. It comprised 8 episodes and was set against the backdrop of 1983.

Synopsis: Alex is reunited with Gene Hunt in 1983, only this time something is different. Haunted by the ghost of a policeman, Alex decided that her only hope of getting home lies in finding out what really happened to Sam Tyler. Her investigation is encouraged by DCI Jim Keats who has been sent from Discipline and Complaints to monitor the stations performance. Under Keats' watchful eye, will the team be able to rescue a kidnapped girl before it's too late.

Synopsis: When the murders of a sting of single women appear to be connected to a dating agency, Alex arranges a speed-dating event in a bid to entice the murderer along. With their main suspect in the frame, Shaz bravely agrees to act as bait. Meanwhile, Alex's curiosity into Sam Tyler's disappearance is piqued when she discovers tampered evidence, and when Gene learns of her underhand investigation, her decides to intervene. Guest starring Beth Goddard and Nicolas Sidi.

Synopsis: It's the run up to the 1983 General Election and CID is asked to investigate a series of politically motivated arson attacks. Ray is devastated to learn that their chief suspect is a fireman who had earlier rescued him. No sooner is the fireman arrested then there is new of another fire. Surely they've got the wrong man? Will Ray be able to confront his demons and save the day? Guest starring Joe Absolom.

Synopsis: Gene is furious to discover that a female cop from another station has been working undercover on his patch. Alex is worried that they've inadvertently blown her cover when she turns up at the station with her face slashed, but Gene smells a rat and decides the time is ripe to settle an old score with and underworld adversary. Guest starring Peter Guinness and Zoe Telford.

Synopsis: Gene's former Manchester colleagues, DCI Litton and DI Bevan, are down South in pursuit of a northern comic Frank Hardwick. Gene doesn't trust Litton and Bevan and sets out to find the real reason his old adversaries are in town. Alex uses their visit as an opportunity to find out more about Sam Tyler's disappearance and she believes that she is getting closer to the truth when Gene dramatically stops her in her tracks. Guest starring Lee Ross, Nicholas Gleaves and Roy Hudd.

Synopsis: With a prison riot in full swing and a convict on the run, Gene takes it upon himself to lead the riot squad into the prison. But in the chaos that follows one of his team is kidnapped. Meanwhile, the escaped convict plays mind games with Alex by claiming to be Sam Tyler and promising to explain why she's stuck back in 1983 in exchange for his freedom. Will Alex do the right thing?

Synopsis: When the team find a dead body at an illegal ANC drinking den the groups leader, Tobias, claims responsibility but tensions mount when Gene refuses to hand him over to the South African Authorities. But when a bomb goes off at the embassy, Gene is faced with little choice. Chris, inspired by Tobias' strength, makes the bravest decision of his life. And an intimate moment between Gene and Alex is interrupted by Keats, who has some crucial information for her.
