'Ashes to Ashes' Series 2 Episode Guide
The second series of Ashes to Ashes originally aired on BBC One from the 20th April 2009 to the 8th June 2009. It comprised 8 episodes. In this series time has moved in in Gene's world and it is now 1982, where leg warmers are cool, fluorescent is the colour of choice and Thatcher is in her element.

Synopsis: In the months since her parents' death, DI Alex Drake has become entrenched in 1982 - but when noises from the future suggest she's been found, Alex is given fresh hope that she's alive. It's buisness as usal for DCI Gene Hunt, who is keen to get to the bottom of the death of a copper in Soho. As they edge towards the truth, Alex encounters a man whose chilling words turn her world view on it's head. Guest starring Shaun Evans.

Synopsis: A car chase results in the death of a Romany man and Gene's dangerous driving comes under scrutiny. When his senior officer steps in to offer Gene a way out, it smacks of a cover up to Alex and her trust in Gene starts to waver. As their paths diverge, Alex is approached by a mysterious stranger whose presence in this world terrifies her, but whose offer is surely to good to be true. Guest starring Joseph Milson

Synopsis: A series of attacks are planned by animal rights activists, and the first victim is a young daughter of a vivisectionist. Gene orders his team not to sleep until those responsible are found, but the only lead points towards an imprisoned hunger-striker with no contact to the outside world. As Alex and Gene disagree on who could be responsible, the campaign starts to claim more causalities and it's a race against time to stop it. Guest starring David Bradley and Rory Kinnear.

Synopsis: With the future of Gene's career at stake, he and Alex are desperate to unravel the corruption that is poisoning the force. When a blast from Gene's past arrives, they realise a spate of missing teenagers may be more complex than it first appears. The likely suspect seems ot be receiving protection from the inside - but surely no amount of loyalty should get in the way of justice running it's course. Guest starring Ruth Millar and John Bowe.

Synopsis: A violent burglary send the team to Alex's in-laws house, where she come face to face with Peter, the 14 year old future father of Molly. There's a clash of interest when Alex wants to help Molly's grandparents, but Gene is more interested in going after a scoop that will bury the press interest in police corruption once and for all. When Alex is presented with an offer that could get her back to Molly, will she be able to refuse it? Guest starring Rory MacGregor and Sarah Stewart.

Synopsis: There's a ruthless loan shark on CID's turf and Gene believes he could be behind a recent murder. Alex worries that Gene is blind to other suspects, but she is feeling less than 100% as she undergoes surgery in 2008 to remove the bullet from her brain. Alex can only wait to see if she survives the operation and meanwhile Gene's vendetta leads him into equally dangerous ground. Guest starring Sam Spruell.

As her view of the world is shaken to it's core, for Gene the case uncovers a terrifying truth about someone he trusts.

As Gene is tempted by a beautiful woman, his relationship with Alex is put to it's toughest test yet in a heart-stopping showdown.
